The Mooring Counselling Service
Welcome to my website. My name is Debbie Russell. I am a fully qualified Registered and Accredited Counsellor / Psychotherapist. I have considerable experience of working with adults and young people with a wide range of issues. These include bereavement and loss, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and relationship issues.
My practice, The Mooring Counselling Service, is in Market Deeping which is easily accessible from Stamford, Peterborough, Bourne and Spalding. The Mooring Counselling Service is available to anyone who wishes to take some time out from the pressures and ‘storms’ of life in order to find a place that is safe, stable and supportive. I offer one-to-one counselling sessions for adults and young people using both short and long-term therapy.
Should I Consider Counselling?
If you are looking at this website then you are probably seriously considering counselling. You may be feeling as if your life is a struggle or you may want to address some issues that interfere with the way you experience life and relationships. Alternatively you may simply want to take some time out for yourself which could lead to you making some important changes. Whatever the reason you are worth investing in – It is never too late to be what you might have been.*
All of us experience difficult, painful and confusing times at some stage in our lives. For many people making the decision to see a counsellor may be the first step in beginning to feel more in control of their lives. It can feel easier to ignore emotional problems but unfortunately they don’t just disappear. Burying and avoiding uncomfortable feelings can lead to physical symptoms, unhelpful coping strategies and addictions.
People say, 'The past is past'. This is exactly what it isn’t. The past can’t go into the past until it is worked through in the present. **

What is the Purpose of Counselling?
During challenging times it can be hugely beneficial to speak to someone who is skilled at listening, validating your experience and supporting you. The purpose of counselling is that you emerge stronger and more comfortable within yourself. An outcome of counselling is often a greater self-awareness which can help you manage situations, make good decisions and develop rewarding relationships. Counselling can be a preventative measure, exploring issues before they start to feel insurmountable. It takes courage but the benefits can be life-changing.
